About Future Shapers
BACKGROUND: In pursuit of advancing awareness and opportunity to the upcoming workforce, Envoy Africa Investments in partnership with WISE-ED launched Future Shapers Africa 2020, since then it has provided various opportunities for young entrepreneurs and researchers to interact and participate in various multi-sectoral projects in our portfolio, including multiple internships in the private and public sector, local and global forums, project launch events, think tanks, and project pilots.
Future Shapers offers real world one-of-a-kind internships around the world including NYC, Kenya, Australia, Bahamas, Indonesia, Italy, Austria, China, South America and other locations.
THEMATIC AREAS: Global Citizenship and Innovation, Climate Change, Education, Gender, Advocacy for social change, Sustainable Development, Soft Diplomacy
INTERNSHIP SUMMARY: This internship aims to give exposure to real world challenges and to give opportunities
to be an agent for change by interacting in emerging economies and regions. It provides a lens into the multidimensional global landscape where one can experience culture, expressions and also the challenges and needs of the marginalized communities.
INTERNSHIP COMPONENTS:
Future Shaper Ambassador - collate information on needs and opportunities – water, energy, food, livestock, gender, education, health etc.
as well as participate in flagship events
Exposure and Experience – in a variety of settings, activities, locations including site visits, community engagement, courtesy calls, tasks
Internship Missions – Launch after school BOH Clubs with strategic partners, and mobilize your community for resources
Personal Quests- Food and Culture, History Journal, Language Learning
Advocacy and Tourism – Blogging, social media campaigns and YouTube mini-doc series with Wise-ed to showcase
Culture Exchange – meet youth, visit historical sites, etc
Entrepreneurship – write business and proposals plans for innovations for partnerships
INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES:
The internship aims to give real world experience in various aspects including:
1. School clubs to support quality of learning – sports, literacy, stem, tree planting and urban food gardens, plastic recycling and clean coastlines, entrepreneurship, gender awareness
2. Cultural exchange – sharing food, customs, cultures and languages between countries
3. Conduct research on climate change impacts and adaptation strategies relevant to region, including vulnerability assessments, stakeholder consultations, and data analysis.
4. Assist in the development and implementation of community-based climate resilience projects, focusing on sustainable agriculture, water resource management, and renewable energy solutions.
5. Collaborate with local stakeholders, government agencies, and non-profit organizations to support capacity-building efforts and knowledge exchange on climate change adaptation and mitigation
6. Participate in community engagement and education initiatives aimed at raising awareness about climate change issues and promoting sustainable practices among local communities.
7. Engage in courtesy calls to get experience from experts and introduce yourself as a Future Shaper Ambassador
